Description

This splendid villa was built in 1904 by the engineer Gay according to the stylistic features of Turin Art Nouveau, between the National Exhibition of 1898 and the International Exhibition of 1911. Completely restored in 2007, the house was brought back to its original splendour by integrating modern technology.

The 370-square metre building has a main façade enriched by a monumental walnut portal carved in the “baroque spider's web” motif. An elegant balcony overlooks the street, while a wide travertine base and bronze decorations complete the exterior aesthetics. Above, a terrace with a balustrade and cast-iron vases houses ornamental agaves. The side facades retain the rich Art Nouveau decoration.

There is a large courtyard of about 170 square metres, dominated by a centuries-old beech tree, a fountain with an Indian statue and an 18th-century basin, as well as a double garage. The paving alternates between Lecce stone and pebble inserts, with hints of feng shui; cast-iron lampposts and numerous vases with camellias and rhododendrons enrich the environment.
The main entrance to the property is through a refined hallway, illuminated by a period chandelier and embellished by a niche with an 18th-century painting, “Verde Alpi” and “Busca” marbles, as well as a flooring in “Chianca Classica” from Puglia. The internal façade and the winter garden reproduce Art Nouveau motifs, while inside each room is paved with Sicilian handcrafted cementine.

On the ground floor, the spacious living room has a fireplace in “Verde Alpi” and “Rosso Cesana” marble, a piano from the 1920s and original decorations. The TV room and winter garden can be accessed from here.

An important marble staircase leads to the first floor, where the library with frescoed ceiling, the kitchen with Louis XVI fireplace and access to the terrace overlooking the courtyard, the dining room with coffered ceiling and several works attributed to Claudio Francesco Beaumont are located. The floor is completed by a guest bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a refined “salon de bain”.

On the second floor are two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms lined with art glass, one of which has a study and both of which are connected to the large panoramic terrace overlooking the street of about 80 square metres.

Finally, the house includes a tavern with technical rooms, a small gym, a play area and a wine cellar. Modern installations include underfloor heating and cooling, burglar alarm, cameras, automatic irrigation and Ethernet cabling.
